Calendula Garden Produces Blooms for Calendula Salve
Here are photos of the calendula garden that will produce blooms for Nancy's Calendula salve.
June 2012
The calendulas are in full bloom after weekly rains and two application of Miracle-Gro.
April 2012
On April 26, 2012, I planted over over fifty young calendulas seedlings right from the flats that I purchased from Mrs. Rogers at Stone Hedge Gardens. She started the plants from seed in January so a few plants were blooming. A close look at the photos shows the horse manure from Jerry that, along with pelletized lime, I dug into the soil before planting.
The walking boards split the garden roughly in half to let us have easy access to the plants.
I'll keep the plants well watered for the next few weeks to help them become established.
The seedlings survived two nights of near freezing temperatures.
